Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucas St Pierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Schultz! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Pierre shoots in but Schultz avoids the takedown attempt easily. St Pierre looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Schultz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Schultz goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Schultz tries to clinch but St Pierre moves out of range. Schultz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Schultz tries to free his leg and advance position but St Pierre is retaining full guard. St Pierre keeping moving, preventing Schultz from controlling successfully. St Pierre looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schultz is one step ahead there. Schultz trying to move into half guard but instead St Pierre has managed to sweep!

Schultz has his foot on St Pierre's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. St Pierre works his way back into a safe position though. Schultz working for a triangle but St Pierre defends it easily.

St Pierre wants to control from the top but Schultz keeps moving. Schultz controls St Pierre momentarily but St Pierre frees himself. St Pierre is looking to work some ground and pound but Schultz has wrist control. Schultz looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Schultz is pulling down on St Pierre's head. It's preventing any offense from St Pierre, at least for the moment.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Schultz thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on St Pierre if he has to take too many more of those.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Schultz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Schultz showed some decent athleticism there. Schultz is keen to just control but St Pierre is a slippery customer. St Pierre wants to control the action here but instead Schultz manages to pass to full mount! St Pierre is squirming around, avoiding Schultz's attempts to control the action. St Pierre is in all sorts of trouble here.

Schultz gets the takedown into side control. Schultz wants to control but St Pierre is keeping him busy. Schultz takes a little break here. St Pierre wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. St Pierre is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Schultz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Schultz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. St Pierre is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Schultz wants to take his opponent's back but St Pierre doesn't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schultz is in the full mount, landing strikes. St Pierre throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Schultz lands a heavy elbow. Schultz is landing with some decent strikes but St Pierre is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. St Pierre is working to get back to half guard.
St Pierre is squirming around, avoiding Schultz's attempts to control the action. St Pierre wants to hold on but Schultz pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Schultz looking to finish St Pierre with some ground and pound. This is bad for St Pierre! St Pierre tries to lock up and control but Schultz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Schultz tries to control but St Pierre wriggling away. Schultz landing strikes, looking to finish! Schultz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. St Pierre can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Schultz trying to control but St Pierre is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Schultz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

St Pierre tries to clinch but fails miserably and Schultz counters with a nice double leg into side control. St Pierre won't be happy with that. Schultz trying to control the action but St Pierre is working from the bottom. Schultz scores with a couple of short elbows. St Pierre tries to bench press Schultz off him but Schultz keeps the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre is working to avoid the ground and pound but Schultz connects with a decent elbow. St Pierre tries to improve position but can't. St Pierre prevents Schultz from improving position. Schultz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, St Pierre has escaped the position, nice work there. St Pierre prevents Schultz from moving into mount. Schultz trying to control the action but St Pierre is working from the bottom. St Pierre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schultz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. St Pierre is trying to work for a sweep but Schultz has mounted him! St Pierre really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
St Pierre tries to buck Schultz off but he can't manage it. St Pierre is in a horrible position here. Schultz smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
A nice elbow there by Schultz. Schultz cracks St Pierre with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Dave Schultz has got the better of the ground game so far. Schultz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. St Pierre looks a forlorn figure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schultz looking to control but St Pierre is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. St Pierre is trying desperately to improve position. St Pierre looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! St Pierre staying busy and making it hard for Schultz to control. Schultz looking to break St Pierre's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. St Pierre remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Schultz will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Schultz is not going to allow St Pierre to sit and survive in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Schultz lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns St Pierre.

St Pierre is looking for a way out. Lucas St Pierre has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dave Schultz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. A lull in the action here.
And that's the end of the fight! Dave Schultz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Schultz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
