Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takero Yoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Valdemir Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshi walks into a straight right hand from Garcia.
Yoshi fails with a takedown attempt.
Garcia tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Yoshi tries to keep at a distance but Garcia has taken the fight into the clinch.
Yoshi trying to control the position but instead, Garcia has worked for underhooks and has pushed Yoshi into the cage.
Yoshi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Garcia dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Yoshi tries to pull guard but Garcia holds him up against the cage and eventually Yoshi drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takero Yoshi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yoshi is working for takedown but Garcia is calmly controlling the position for now.

Garcia has picked Yoshi up - he's going for a ride! Garcia dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Garcia is controlling the pace.

Yoshi throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Garcia tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Yoshi.
Yoshi wants to improve his position but Garcia is controlling well.
Garcia is trying to control the action in half guard but Yoshi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Garcia stuns Yoshi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Yoshi is breathing heavily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A nice combination there by Garcia.


It looks like Takero Yoshi has been cut.
Garcia throws a leg kick which misses Yoshi's front leg but catches the back leg as Yoshi tries to avoid it.

Garcia darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Garcia controlling the action here.
Yoshi is not content to let Garcia control the position.

Garcia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Garcia takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Yoshi looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
It looks like Garcia is going to stand back up.
Garcia is taking a breather. Yoshi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Yoshi is pressing down on Garcia's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Yoshi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Garcia is one step ahead there.
Garcia slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yoshi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Yoshi has his foot on Garcia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Garcia works his way back into a safe position though.
Yoshi keeping moving, preventing Garcia from controlling successfully.

Yoshi looking for a guillotine here but Garcia defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Valdemir Garcia dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Takero Yoshi's cut.
That's time! Yoshi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Garcia rushes Yoshi and presses him up against the cage.
Garcia is pressed up against the cage. Yoshi has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Garcia down to the mat. Garcia avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Yoshi doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Garcia counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garcia trying to control the action but Yoshi is working from the bottom.
Yoshi tries to roll over but Garcia keeps him under control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Garcia is controlling the pace.
Yoshi on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Garcia is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Yoshi!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Garcia has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Yoshi's face.
Garcia landing strikes from the mount and Yoshi is in trouble!
Garcia tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Yoshi sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Yoshi wants to improve his position but Garcia is controlling well.
Garcia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yoshi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Yoshi is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Garcia pulls his head out easily.
Garcia not doing much here.
Yoshi is pressing down on Garcia's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Yoshi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Garcia escapes and throws Yoshi's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Garcia wants to control but Yoshi is keeping him busy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Yoshi tries to clinch but Garcia moves away

and Garcia counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Garcia would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Yoshi is looking for a triangle but Garcia pushes his legs off easily.

Yoshi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Yoshi throws his legs up looking for a submission but Garcia uses it to pass to side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Garcia blocks the strikes from Yoshi.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Valdemir Garcia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Garcia closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Garcia lands in his opponent's guard.
Yoshi throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Yoshi is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Garcia rolls with it to try and escape but Yoshi cranks on the arm and Garcia is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Takero Yoshi!
