Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Fadden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, EJ Junior! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Junior misses with a wild combination.
Junior throws a nice looking combination but Fadden bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Fadden tries to clinch up. Fadden shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Junior as he avoids it easily. Junior misses with a two punch combination.
Fadden slips a jab and a cross from Junior.
EJ Junior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fadden avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Junior throws a series of punches but Fadden avoids them all with ease. Fadden takes a kick to the side of the head. Fadden tries to clinch up. Junior lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Junior throws a head kick but Fadden moves out of range.
Junior lands with a kick to the temple. Fadden shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Fadden shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Junior as he jumps to the side. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fadden has closed the distance and engaged Junior in a clinch.

Fadden shoots in for a double leg but Junior sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Fadden. That's going to take a lot out of him. Junior avoids the head kick by Fadden.
That's one minute gone in the round. Junior tries to bum rush Fadden with a series of wild strikes but Fadden uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Fadden changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Junior looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Junior is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Fadden lands some shots froms side control. Junior is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fadden asserts his dominance and retains side control. Junior tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Fadden breaks from Junior's wrist control and lands an elbow. Fadden working for a submission but Junior is keeping him at bay. Fadden landing strikes, looking to finish! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Junior can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fadden seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Junior is holding on tight.
Fadden is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Junior is in real trouble.
Fadden is breathing heavily. Junior controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Junior really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fadden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fadden trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Fadden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Junior is trying to stand back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fadden is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Junior with him. Junior is trying to defend but Fadden has an arm under the chin now! Junior grimaces and is forced to tap out!
