Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Gerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gerson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to DO OR DIE - BELLA FAMIGLIA. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Peter Green was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mauricio Gerson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Peter Green! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gerson takes one on the chin but seems OK.
It looks like Mauricio Gerson has been cut. Green looks to throw a body kick and Gerson counters with a lovely straight right hand! Green rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gerson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. As Green backs away, Gerson returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Green tries to work over Gerson's front leg with a kick but Gerson checks it. Green misses with a few strikes there.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gerson. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gerson checks a leg kick. It looked like Gerson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Green misses with a body kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Green. Gerson does a little dance to reset his feet. Green will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gerson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Green.
That's one minute gone in the round. Green throws a wild body kick that Gerson sees coming a mile off. It looked like Gerson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Gerson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Green sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. The fight moves into the clinch position. Green wants the takedown. Gerson is fighting it off but Green persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gerson's guard against the cage. Gerson has his foot on Green's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Green works his way back into a safe position though. Gerson is breathing heavily. Green avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Green content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Green landing with the ground and pound. Green stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gerson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Green postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Green scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Green must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Green working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gerson's head. Green really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gerson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Green makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Gerson can't keep his opponent in guard - Green advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Green is pressing down on Gerson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gerson is holding on for now. Green working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Nice strikes from Green there. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Green connects with a nice short shot to Gerson's temple. Gerson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Green keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Green with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Gerson has been working on his balance at Lock and Roll Grappling Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Green. Gerson is trying to drag Green to the mat but Green just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Gerson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gerson dodges an elbow strike from Green.

We've been informed that Green has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Green chips away with some ground and pound. Gerson is rocked! Green lands a couple of digs. Oh Gerson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Green keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gerson's head. Green distracts Gerson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Gerson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Gerson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Green's waist but Green gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gerson off to one side. Gerson seems to have got his legs back now. Green shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Gerson has one foot on Green's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Green has taken the fight to the clinch.
