PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Campbell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seth Campbell told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Pierre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Seth Campbell!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campbell gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Campbell shoots for a double leg takedown but Pierre sprawls well. He's pushed Campbell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Campbell takes one on the button.
Campbell tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pierre defends well and Campbell ends up having to push Pierre into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pierre misses with a looping right.
Campbell looks for a takedown but Pierre sprawls well.
Jay Pierre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seth Campbell.

Campbell rushes Pierre and presses him up against the cage.

Campbell pulls guard successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Campbell is trying to keep Pierre in close.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Campbell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Pierre trying to control the position from guard on top but Campbell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Campbell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pierre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pierre drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pierre jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pierre postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Campbell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pierre postures up.
Pierre is looking to work some ground and pound but Campbell has wrist control.
Pierre throwing strikes from guard but Campbell blocks nicely.
Pierre works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Pierre takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Campbell scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Pierre manages to mount him!

Campbell has left one of his arms exposed and Pierre doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Campbell screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
