PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randall Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Bulge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randall Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Bulge!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods throws a nice looking combination but Bulge bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bulge closes this distance looking for a takedown but Woods circles away.
Woods tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bulge was well out of range. Poor timing from Woods.
Bulge uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Woods.
Bulge should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Bulge wants to clinch up but Woods keeps it at a distance.
Woods misses with a jab, cross combination.

Woods closes the distance and clinches.
Woods tries for a takedown. No joy.
Bulge has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Woods is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Randall Woods has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Bulge.

Woods has Bulge pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Woods pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bulge tumbling to the mat - Woods dives into Bulge's guard.
Bulge throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Woods stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bulge swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Woods pushing down on Bulge's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Woods is trying to control the action in half guard but Bulge is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bulge is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bulge is trying to maintain the position but Woods is very close to passing his half guard.
Woods trying to mount his opponent but Bulge defends it.
Woods thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Woods lands a nice short elbow.
Woods throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Woods postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bulge to stand up.

Woods shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Woods showed some decent athleticism there.
Woods looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bulge gets full guard.
Woods with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bulge controls Woods momentarily but Woods frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bulge wants to sweep but no luck.
Woods throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bulge works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Woods working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Bulge avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Woods postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bulge trying to control the position.
Woods won't allow Bulge to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Woods stands up from Bulge's guard - Woods perhaps looking for a knockout.
Woods fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Woods gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Bulge jumps guard but Woods stands there with Bulge around his waist. Bulge gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Woods lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Woods effectively controlling the action here.
Bulge is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Woods is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bulge can't fight it off and eventually Woods manages to take the fight to the floor. Bulge looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bulge can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Woods makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Woods scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Woods trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bulge trying to keep a closed guard but Woods is proving a slippery customer.
Woods wants to pass the guard but Bulge is keeping the position.
Woods controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randall Woods dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Woods cracks Bulge with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Woods looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And Bulge tries to counter it with a takedown but Woods pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Bulge closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Woods to the mat! Woods manages to get full guard.
Woods is wriggling around but Bulge manages to pass to half guard.

Bulge lands with a punch from half guard.
Bulge is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Woods keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bulge drops an elbow to the side of Woods's head.
Bulge scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Woods is staying active underneath Bulge, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Woods is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bulge scores with a couple of nice shots.

Woods moves into full guard.

Woods has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Bulge doesn't defend quickly enough and Woods has managed to lock this one up! Can Bulge escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Woods on a fantastic submission victory.
