Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aderbal Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Roads (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damien Roads will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aderbal Maia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Damien Roads! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roads gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Maia has gone for a leg lock! Roads slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maia's guard. Maia had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Roads defends it easily. Maia looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Maia is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Maia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Roads is aware though and is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maia escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roads gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Maia throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roads can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Roads trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Maia had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Roads defends it easily. Maia keeping moving, preventing Roads from controlling successfully. Roads trying to stand up but can't free himself from Maia's guard. Maia looking to hit a scissor sweep but Roads is one step ahead there. Maia escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roads gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Maia looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Roads trying to control the position from guard on top but Maia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Maia can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Roads controls the pace. Maia has his foot on Roads's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roads works his way back into a safe position though. Maia working for a triangle but Roads defends it easily.
Maia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roads got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Roads has managed to get both his arms back between Maia's legs - danger averted. Roads stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maia swivels though and keeps the full guard. Maia might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Roads trying to control the position from guard on top but Maia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Roads seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Maia keeping full guard, as Roads tries to pass. Maia has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Maia is looking for a triangle here but Roads uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Roads stands up and we're back to a striking position. Roads misses the shot to the body. Maia fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Roads swings for the body but Maia moves out of range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Maia staying out of range there. Maia half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Roads lands an overhand right. A looping hook to the body misses from Roads. Maia does a little dance to reset his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aderbal Maia dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Roads lands a right hook to the body.
Maia shoots in but Roads avoids the takedown attempt easily. Roads fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Maia manages to avoid it. Roads misses with a looping left. Roads misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Maia.
Maia closes this distance looking for a takedown but Roads circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roads lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Roads throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. No luck for Maia with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aderbal Maia. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Roads.
Roads throws a hook but Maia avoids it easily. Maia is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Roads's half guard. Roads has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Maia is on him like a limpet, forcing Roads back against the cage. Roads manages to break the clinch.
Roads misses the shot to the body. Maia tries to counter with a takedown but Roads is quick to defend against it. Damien Roads is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Roads moves into range and connects with a jab. Roads lands with a cross. A punch lands to the side of Maia 's head but he takes it in his stride. Damien Roads seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Roads misses with a double jab
and Maia counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Maia wants to work for an arm triangle but Roads is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Roads makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Roads. Maia drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Roads manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Maia has Roads in his guard. Maia working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Roads has passed into half guard!
Maia is looking for a sweep. Roads is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia regains full guard. Nicely done. Roads trying to control the position from guard on top but Maia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Maia is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Roads defends well. Roads tries to free his leg and advance position but Maia is retaining full guard. Maia isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Roads stacks Maia on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Roads! Roads decides to stand back up. Roads steps back and let's Maia get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Roads throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Roads ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maia moves away. Roads misses with a body shot.
Maia defending well as Roads loads up on a big left hand. Maia appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Roads jabs Maia right on the nose. Maia blinks but takes it well. Maia closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Roads sneaks out the side door and pushes Maia away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Roads lands a nice hook to Maia's body. Maia takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Roads lands a nice looking body shot.
Roads lands with a good body shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Damien Roads showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Roads lands with a shot to the body. Roads drops Maia with a beautiful combination! Maia stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Roads is looking for the KO!
It looks like Aderbal Maia has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Roads misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Roads swings for the body but Maia moves out of range.
Maia feinted with a counter takedown. Maia on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Roads lands a nice shot that snaps Maia's head back.
Maia misses with a takedown attempt and Roads connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Roads cracks Maia with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Roads has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Maia to stand back up!
Maia is rocked! Roads has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roads lands a nice hook to Maia's body. Maia takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Oh Maia is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Maia takes a body punch but keeps moving. Maia seems to have got his legs back now. Roads misses with a jab, cross combination.
Maia tries to counter with a takedown but Roads is quick to defend against it. Roads scores with a body shot.
Roads throws a monster overhand right that drops Maia! Roads follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Damien Roads! Damien Roads seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
