Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quintin Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Knight will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Quintin Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Knight!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Knight.
Knight looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Knight moves into the clinch.
Day can't find room to land a body shot as Knight controls the action.
Day is trying to break free.
A shot in the inside from Knight.

Day pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Day shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Knight sprawls well. Knight wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Day gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knight fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Day looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Day shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Knight pinned against the cage. Knight gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Knight lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quintin Day. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Day tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Knight defends well and Day ends up having to push Knight into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
No luck for Day with that takedown attempt.
As Day backs off Knight throws a huge counter combo but Day manages to avoid it all.
Day looks for a takedown but Knight sprawls well.

Knight closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Day to the mat! Day manages to get full guard.

Day wriggles free and stands up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Day changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Knight tries to avoid it but Day manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Knight to the ground. Knight escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Day looks for a takedown but Knight sprawls well.

Knight clinches with his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Day manages to break the clinch.
Knight keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Day.
Day dives in and grabs Knight's left leg, looking for a takedown. Knight pushes down on Day's head and hops out.
Knight looks to land a combination but Day avoids it well.
Day lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Day closes the distance and clinches up with Knight, looking for a takedown. Day pushes Knight against the cage but Knight circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Day throws a leg kick that is checked

and Knight counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Day is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Knight dives into side control.

You can see the frustration on Day's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Knight decides to stand up, so the ref orders Day to his feet.
Day slips a jab and a cross from Knight.

Day is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Knight's half guard.
Knight is trying to stand.

Day moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Knight.
Day controls the position.
Knight is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Knight dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Day tries to score a power double leg takedown but Knight sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Day somewhat.

Day moves into the clinch.

Day pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day fails with a takedown attempt.
Knight is breathing heavily.
Nice takedown defense from Knight. No joy for Day on that attempt.

Day bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Knight bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Day fails to land the takedown.

Knight clinches up against the cage.
Day has had enough of the clinch but Knight keeps him there for the moment.

Day's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Day closes this distance looking for a takedown but Knight circles away.
Knight fails with a takedown attempt.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Knight lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Day circles away quickly and effectively.

Day closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Knight explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Knight darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Knight trying to control from half guard but Day is working away.

Day is trying to control but can't.
Day is trying to stand.
Mark Knight has got the better of the ground game so far.
Day wants to control but Knight is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Day keeping control of the position.

Day is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Knight pulls his head out easily.
Day controlling the position well.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Knight trying to control from half guard but Day is working away.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Knight throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Knight stuffs the takedown.

Knight fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Day, pushing him back against the cage.
Day is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Day can't break the clinch.
Day tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Knight just stands there and leans against the cage.
Day wants to get back to striking at distance but Knight won't allow it.
Day wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Knight has him pressed against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Knight showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Knight throws a right hand that Day ducks under and follows up with a left that Day also avoids with ease.

Day manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Knight on his heels. He'll look to pass Knight's guard now, I'm sure.
Day is standing up over Knight. Knight looks to escape but Day dives into side control.

Knight wants to get back to his feet but Day is dominant here and he's now got Knight's back!
Day controlling the position well here. Knight rolled but Day kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Day is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Knight is defending well though. Day let's go of the attempt for now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Day's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
