Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Philip Gallagher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pelle Pistachio! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gallagher leaves Pistachio with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Gallagher with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gallagher throws a body kick that misses. Gallagher has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOD: Contenders in the buildup to the fight. Gallagher takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Pistachio clinches with his opponent.
Gallagher throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Pistachio blocks it with crossed arms. Pistachio's coach down at Roosters Coop was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Pistachio's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Pistachio changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gallagher fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Good exchange - Gallagher coming out on top. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pistachio throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The fight moves into the clinch position. Gallagher unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pistachio lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gallagher tries a knee to the head but Pistachio blocks it.

Pistachio is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gallagher gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Philip Gallagher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pelle Pistachio. Pistachio throws a head punch that misses. Pistachio tries to pull guard but Gallagher holds him up against the cage and eventually Pistachio drops back down to his feet.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Gallagher creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Gallagher landing knees to the head.
Pistachio looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Pistachio takes a knee right on the jaw!

Pistachio is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gallagher to keep the fight standing.

Pistachio has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gallagher is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Pistachio is trying to stall.
Pistachio is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Gallagher is defending well. Pistachio looks winded! Pistachio can't break the clinch.

Pistachio is rocked! Gallagher lands a big knee! That's hurt Pistachio! Oh, he's all over the place! Gallagher lands another knee that sends Pistachio to the floor and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Philip Gallagher! Philip Gallagher was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
