The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Figueroa moves into the clinch.
Figueroa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Figueroa creates some space and throws a big elbow, but McCoy sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

McCoy takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Figueroa is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McCoy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
McCoy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Figueroa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McCoy can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
McCoy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McCoy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Figueroa has one foot on McCoy's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

McCoy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
