Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Romano Schoots (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sher Shah Suri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Romano Schoots!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sher Shah Suri!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Suri. That snapped Schoots's head back.

Suri moves into range and clinches up with Schoots.
Suri lands a left hand that snaps the head of Schoots backwards.
Suri blocks an uppercut.
Suri lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Schoots or not.
Suri letting Schoots take a breather here.
Schoots has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Suri avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Suri tries to throw a body punch but Schoots avoids it by throwing Suri back against the cage.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Suri lands with a right to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schoots drops down looking for an ankle pick but Suri pulls his leg out and moves away.

Suri moves in looking to clinch but Schoots pushes him off.
Schoots throws out a powerful jab.

Suri looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Sher Shah Suri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Suri scores with a nice right hand.
Schoots misses with a lunging right hand
and Suri counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Schoots tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Suri defends well and Schoots ends up having to push Suri into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

It looked like Schoots was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

and Schoots counters with a shoot takedown. Suri fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Let's hope that Suri has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Schoots is fighting to break Suri's control of his arms but Suri is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Suri is trying to control the position but Schoots postures up.

Suri feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Schootss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Schoots misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Suri gets caught napping as Schoots dives in and scores a takedown. Suri manages to retain guard.

Suri is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Schoots is looking to work some ground and pound but Suri has wrist control.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Suri lands a nice hook to Schoots's body. Schoots takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Suri misses with a looping left.
Schoots on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Schoots looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Suri is fending him off so far but Schoots persists. Nope, Suri circles away and we're back to standing.
Suri has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Schoots wants to land a leg kick but Suri is out of range.
Suri doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Schoots slips under a jab from Suri.
Schoots changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Schoots ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Suri moves away.

Schoots works over Suri's head and body with a nice combination.

Suri tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Schoots blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Nice body punch from Suri - that landed with a thud.
Schoots drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Suri gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Suri lands a right hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schoots trying to stall but Suri improves his position.
A head punch on the inside from Suri fails to land.
Suri lands with a light punch inside.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Suri is pressed up against the cage. Schoots has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Suri down to the mat. Suri avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Schoots closes this distance looking for a takedown but Suri circles away.
Suri swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Schoots swats away the attempt to clinch by Suri.
Schoots swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Schoots fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Suri was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
A looping hook to the body misses from Suri. Schoots does a little dance to reset his feet.
Suri connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

and Schoots counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Suri changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Suri does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A quick step to the side and Schoots tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Schoots throws a combination that misses
and Suri cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sher Shah Suri seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Schoots circles away from the clinch attempt
and Schoots counters with a good low kick that Suri was not able to check.
Schoots shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Suri throws a lazy right hand but Schoots sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Suri lands a big uppercut and Schoots crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Schoots looks OK. Suri waves Schoots back to his feet!


Schoots is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schoots ducks into an uppercut from Suri and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!
