Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aoki Funkyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Nix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nix has chosen Gorilla Militia by Bliss n Eso as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nix lands a slapping body shot.
Funkyama staying out of range there.
Funkyama drops his hands momentarily and Nix takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
We've been informed that Nix has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Funkyama looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nix is fending him off so far but Funkyama persists. Nope, Nix circles away and we're back to standing.
Nix leaves Funkyama with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Funkyama is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Funkyama misses with a takedown attempt - Nix sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Funkyama tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nix throws a lazy right hand but Funkyama sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Funkyama tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nix defends well and Funkyama ends up having to push Nix into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Funkyama wants to take the fight to the mat but Nix manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Nix has hold of one of Funkyama's legs. Funkyama is fighting the takedown attempt but Nix gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Nix wants to control from the top but Funkyama keeps moving.
Nix might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Funkyama haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Nix cracks Funkyama with a solid left hand.
Funkyama had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nix defends it easily.

Funkyama is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Nix is surviving well by controlling Funkyama's body position as best he can.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Funkyama cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Funkyama lands a big shot to the head and Nix winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

A very excited looking Aoki Funkyama rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
