Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Laurence Pena! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Kuznetsov! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuznetsov shoots in for a double leg but Pena sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Kuznetsov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Pena has Kuznetsov up against the cage in a clinch.
Pena keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kuznetsov's efforts to push away. Pena manages to pull guard.

Pena doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Pena wants to sweep here but Kuznetsov controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pena throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Pena is pulling down on Kuznetsov's head. It's preventing any offense from Kuznetsov, at least for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pena manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kuznetsov manages to get himself to full guard.
Pena with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Pena is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pena chips away with some ground and pound. Kuznetsov looks winded! Kuznetsov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Pena looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pena has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pena keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kuznetsov's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kuznetsov is working an open guard so Pena takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Kuznetsov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pena.
Pena seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Kuznetsov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Pena pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A punch lands to the side of Pena 's head but he takes it in his stride. Pena closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Pena is struggling to control the position. Pena misses with a knee strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pena lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Pena content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Kuznetsov is working an open guard so Pena takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Kuznetsov shoots in and gets a takedown into Pena's guard. Pena has his feet on Kuznetsov's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Excellent takedown into side control there by Pena. Kuznetsov wants to get back to his feet but Pena is dominant here and he's now got Kuznetsov's back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Laurence Pena dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pena is on top in guard.
Pena postures up in Kuznetsov's guard and throws a big left but Kuznetsov blocks it. Pena gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Kuznetsov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pena moves out of range of the body kick from Kuznetsov.
Pena lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Kuznetsov is breathing heavily. Kuznetsov misses with an uppercut. Pena saw that one coming. Ivan Kuznetsov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pena closes the distance looking to clinch and Pena takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pena closes the distance and clinches. Pena has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kuznetsov uses from the top position. Pena is adopting a defensive guard. We've been informed that Kuznetsov has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Kuznetsov trying to control but Pena is working from the bottom. Pena seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pena is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pena stands and steps away. Kuznetsov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Pena tries to clinch but Kuznetsov moves out of range. Kuznetsov throws a one two combo.
Kuznetsov slaps away a takedown attempt from Pena, before circling back to the center of the mat. Horrible takedown attempt by Pena or perhaps it was just good defense by Kuznetsov, which made it look bad.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pena shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kuznetsov as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Laurence Pena. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pena has a takedown stuffed. Pena dodges the punch combination from Kuznetsov.

Kuznetsov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pena is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Pena controlling the action here for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Pena. Pena ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pena no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Pena is pulling down on Kuznetsov's head to control his posture. Pena wants to sweep here but Kuznetsov controlling him for the moment. Pena trying to control the position.
Kuznetsov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pena. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pena is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Pena controls Kuznetsov momentarily but Kuznetsov frees himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kuznetsov scoring with punches to the head and body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Laurence Pena will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Kuznetsov is looking to get back to his feet here but Pena is keeping cool and he's managed to take Kuznetsov's back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pena is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Kuznetsov with him. Kuznetsov is trying to defend but Pena has an arm under the chin now! Kuznetsov grimaces and is forced to tap out!
