Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodney Hyde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Walker!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hyde at a distance.
Walker throws a combination. Hyde tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Walker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Walker goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hyde moves in looking to clinch but Walker pushes him off.
Walker lands a two punch combo.
Walker stuffs the takedown attempt from Hyde. Hyde gets slowly back to his feet.
Hyde is breathing heavily.
Walker lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Walker moves in looking to clinch but Hyde pushes him off.
Walker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Walker misses with a few strikes there.
Hyde stuffs the takedown.
Walker misses with a body shot.
Walker swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Walker shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hyde counters with a straight right hand.
Hyde avoids the head kick by Walker.
Hyde scores with a body shot.

Walker forces Hyde back against the cage and clinches.

Walker manages to pull guard.
Walker controls Hyde momentarily but Hyde frees himself.
Hyde looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Hyde has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Walker is proving hard to escape from.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hyde looks for a takedown but Walker sprawls well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A combination from Walker does no damage.
Walker swinging wilding here.
Hyde will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hyde takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Hyde throws a right and a left that Walker avoids nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Walker misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

John Walker dominated that round.

Walker throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hyde counters with a left to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Walker.
Hyde looks to land a combination but Walker avoids it well.
Walker falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hyde counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hyde lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Hyde tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Walker swivels and escapes.

Walker rushes Hyde and presses him up against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Walker manages to break the clinch.
John Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hyde looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Walker!

Walker is trying desperately to improve position.
Hyde controlling from the full mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walker can do anything to dispel that myth.
Walker is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hyde controlling from mount.
Hyde knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walker on the ground.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Rodney Hyde just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Hyde wants to clinch.
Walker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hyde paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hyde swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Walker.
Walker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hyde throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Walker.
Hyde lands a really nice looking cross but Walker seems unphased.
Hyde wants to clinch up but Walker keeps it at a distance.
John Walker seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hyde throws a series of strikes that have Walker backpedaling.
Hyde wants to clinch up but Walker keeps it at a distance.

Hyde moves in looking to clinch but Walker pushes him off.
Hyde slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Hyde fails with the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodney Hyde dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Hyde will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hyde looks to score with a jab to the body but Walker is just out of range.
Walker circles away from the clinch attempt.

Walker forces Hyde back against the cage and clinches.
Walker changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hyde fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Walker misses with a double jab

and Hyde counters with a single leg into guard. Walker didn't expect that.

Walker wants to stand up but Hyde is controlling him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hyde is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hyde stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hyde is stalling in the full guard.
Hyde's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hyde throwing strikes but missing.
Hyde passes into half guard.
Hyde takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hyde has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Rodney Hyde just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Hyde moves in looking to clinch but Walker pushes him off.
Hyde closes the distance looking to clinch
and Walker counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hyde thinking.
Hyde connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Walker's hands.
Hyde throws out a powerful jab.
No joy there for Hyde, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Walker gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Walker trying to keep a closed guard but Hyde is proving a slippery customer.
