Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vaso Sokratis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Cardoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cardoza has chosen Holy See as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vaso Sokratis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Luis Cardoza!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sokratis darts in and clinches Cardoza up against the cage.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Sokratis obliges.
Sokratis tries a knee to the head but Cardoza blocks it.
Sokratis lands an elbow inside that Cardoza shrugs off.


It looks like Luis Cardoza has been cut.
Cardoza is looking to take this one to the mat.
Sokratis swings wildly with an uppercut but Cardoza uses good head movement to avoid it.
Sokratis doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Sokratis lands with a short head shot on the inside.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cardoza has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Cardoza.

Cardoza pulls guard.

Sokratis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cardoza has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sokratis has managed to get both his arms back between Cardoza's legs - danger averted.
Cardoza is pulling down on Sokratis's head to control his posture.

Cardoza working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sokratis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Cardoza is tightening it up a little... Sokratis has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Sokratis reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Sokratis taps out! Nice BJJ there by Cardoza!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Luis Cardoza!
Luis Cardoza decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
