And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Niilo Vaaka!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vaaka drops his hands momentarily and Diaz takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

It looks like Niilo Vaaka has been cut.
A jab lands there for Vaaka.

Vaaka moves into range and clinches up with Diaz.
Vaaka throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Diaz tries to pull guard but Vaaka won't allow it.
Vaaka makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Diaz is trying to pull guard but Vaaka turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Vaaka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Vaaka moves into the clinch successfully.

Diaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Vaaka closes the distance and clinches.
Diaz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Diaz jumps guard but Vaaka stands there with Diaz around his waist. Diaz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Vaaka breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Vaaka, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Diaz connects with a jab.
Diaz scores with a nice head shot.

Diaz gets tackled into the cage by Vaaka. Vaaka maintains the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Vaaka.

Vaaka breaks the clinch.
Vaaka fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it.

Vaaka keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Diaz lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Diaz.
Diaz scores with a jab to the body.
Vaaka walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Diaz lands an uppercut, right on the button! Vaaka tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
