Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eldon Figueroa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Francesco Barraca!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barraca tries to clinch but Figueroa is having none of it.
Figueroa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Barraca dips to his left and cracks Figueroa with an uppercut!


It looks like Eldon Figueroa has been cut.
A head kick misses from Barraca.

Barraca moves into the clinch.
Figueroa blocks the elbow strike.
Barraca can't break the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barraca breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Barraca tries to sprawl but Figueroa drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Barraca is defending against the submission attempts here by Figueroa.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barraca can do anything to dispel that myth.
Figueroa seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Barraca pushes Figueroa off looking to stand but Figueroa dives back in and keeps control.

Figueroa decides to stand and escape the position.

Barraca fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Figueroa, pushing him back against the cage.
Barraca wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The referee calls for Barraca to work.
Figueroa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Barraca smiles and moves away.
Francesco Barraca seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barraca fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Figueroa checks it well.

Barraca rushes Figueroa and presses him up against the cage.
Barraca is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Figueroa keeps control of Barraca as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Barraca.

The referee calls for Barraca to work.
Barraca is trying to break the clinch but Figueroa is controlling him.
Barraca displaying some good clinch control by pressing Figueroa up against the cage.

Barraca is trying to push Figueroa away but Figueroa has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Barraca has had enough of the clinch but Figueroa keeps him there for the moment.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Francesco Barraca dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Barraca clinches up with Figueroa and pushes him back against the cage.

Barraca escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Barraca scores with a decent looking hook.
A head kick from Barraca lands but Figueroa takes it in his stride.

Figueroa forces Barraca back against the cage and clinches.
Figueroa lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Francesco Barraca has been cut.

Barraca's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Figueroa checks a low kick from Barraca.

Barraca closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Figueroa gets control of Barraca's arms and successfully pulls guard. Figueroa will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Barraca must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Barraca wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Figueroa's closed guard. He's half up but Figueroa has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Figueroa pivots and extends the arm, Barraca falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Figueroa! Well done that man!
