Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Blake Gardner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Reyol! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gardner shoots in for a double leg but Reyol sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Reyol rushes Gardner and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Reyol decides to pull guard. Gardner wanted to stand there but Reyol had control of the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gardner decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Reyol tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gardner was well out of range. Poor timing from Reyol. John Reyol seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gardner stuffs the takedown attempt from Reyol. Reyol gets slowly back to his feet. Reyol should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Reyol gets in close and instigates a clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gardner looking for a takedown. Gardner is trying to stall.
Gardner drops down looking for an ankle pick but Reyol pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blake Gardner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reyol closes the distance and clinches. Gardner looking for a takedown. A body shot lands from Reyol.

Gardner shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Reyol connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Blake Gardner has been cut. Reyol forces Gardner back against the cage and clinches. Reyol stops a takedown attempt from Gardner.
Gardner is breathing heavily. Reyol pulls guard successfully.
Reyol working for a triangle but Gardner defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gardner trying to stand up but can't free himself from Reyol's guard. Reyol throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Reyol has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Reyol working for a triangle but Gardner defends it easily.
Gardner wants to stand and escape but instead Reyol has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Reyol stands and throws Gardner's legs to the side, diving into side control. Reyol controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reyol tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gardner's legs. Gardner being controlled for a moment. Reyol tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Reyol working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Reyol moves into full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Reyol fails to take his opponent's back. Reyol looking to control and managing it successfully. Gardner tries to lock up and control but Reyol gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Reyol pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Gardner is rocked! Reyol takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Oh Gardner is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Reyol works his way to his opponent's back.
Reyol is riding his opponent, not letting Gardner buck him off. Reyol is loading up with his shots from the back and Gardner is in big trouble! Gardner taps out to strikes and the fight is over!
