Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grigorij Asubabjan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Asubabjan has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Grigorij Asubabjan! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis has Asubabjan up against the cage in a clinch.
Asubabjan tries for a takedown but Davis manages to get underhooks.
Davis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Davis clinches up with Asubabjan and pushes him back against the cage. Davis pulls Asubabjan into guard.

Asubabjan wants to stand but Davis is controlling his posture from full guard. Asubabjan looks winded! Davis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Asubabjan taking some punishment here, with Davis in his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis is controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis wants to free his trapped foot but Asubabjan is holding on for dear life with his legs. Davis wants to take a breather but Asubabjan is having none of it. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Asubabjan is looking to control Davis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Asubabjan avoid being mounted? Davis blocks the strikes from Asubabjan.
Davis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Davis is nestled in close to Asubabjan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Davis looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Davis working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Davis is pressing down on Asubabjan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Asubabjan is holding on for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Davis lands a nice short elbow. Davis working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Davis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Davis tries to stand and escape but Asubabjan is controlling the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Davis lands with a slapping head kick. Davis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Davis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Asubabjan did well to prevent Davis getting side control. Davis tries to stand but can't do so whilst Asubabjan controls his leg. Davis content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Davis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Asubabjan taking some punishment here, with Davis in his half guard. Asubabjan trying to control from the bottom.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Davis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Asubabjan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Davis gets in close and instigates a clinch. Davis jumps guard and drags Asubabjan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Asubabjan stops Davis from standing up. Davis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Asubabjan stopping the sweep attempt from Davis. Davis keeping moving, preventing Asubabjan from controlling successfully. Douglas Davis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Asubabjan is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Davis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
And that's the end of the fight! Douglas Davis showed his dominance in that final round. Well Davis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Douglas Davis decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
