Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Saul Goodman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alf Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Ben Watson and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodman takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Goodman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Goodman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Stewart won't allow Goodman to pass to mount.
Goodman prevents Stewart from standing back up.
Goodman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Goodman is looking to advance position but Stewart won't allow it.
Goodman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Stewart really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goodman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Goodman stalling.
Stewart wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stewart is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Goodman wants to stand up but Stewart is controlling the position.
Stewart pushes Goodman off looking to stand but Goodman dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stewart manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Goodman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alf Stewart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stewart tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Goodman is looking to counter the offense by Stewart and move into the clinch.
Goodman keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stewart.

Goodman scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Goodman is looking to take a break and control but Stewart is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stewart tries to escape but Goodman is in control.
Goodman tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goodman tries to advance to mount but can't.
Goodman tries to stand but Stewart is controlling his head.
Stewart is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Goodman controls the position.
The strikes coming from Goodman are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Stewart tries to escape but Goodman is in control.

Goodman decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Stewart has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Goodman is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Stewart throws a push kick but Goodman slaps the foot to one side.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Some wild striking there from Goodman.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stewart tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Goodman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Goodman pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Stewart back to the cage. Goodman follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Goodman drives through and clinches with Stewart against the cage.
Stewart tries to break the clinch but Goodman is controlling the position.
Goodman can't get the takedown.

Goodman breaks the clinch.
Goodman misses with a two punch combination.
Stewart is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Goodman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stewart throws out the jab.
Stewart misses the shot to the body.
Stewart throws a body punch but Goodman moves out of range.
Stewart looks to land a left hand but Goodman moved out of range nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Goodman on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Left hook, right uppercut from Goodman.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Goodman lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.


Stewart is rocked!
Stewart fails with the takedown
and Goodman counters with a huge left! Stewart is in big trouble! He's backing up but Goodman isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Stewart from any more damage. A dominating finish by Goodman!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Saul Goodman!
A pretty intense looking Saul Goodman took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
