Shimabukuro's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Warrior. Papu is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: abu theme. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaru Shimabukuro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
18 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Abu Papu!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papu wants to land a leg kick but Shimabukuro is out of range.
Shimabukuro dodges the punch combination from Papu.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shimabukuro, right into the meat.
A clash of legs there as Shimabukuro blocks the low kick.
Shimabukuro connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Shimabukuro throws a poor cross that misses
and Papu cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Papu scores with a jab.
Papu throws a jab when Shimabukuro was well out of range.
Shimabukuro uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Papu.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shimabukuro.
Shimabukuro lands with a nice body kick.
Papu connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shimabukuro throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Shimabukuro ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Shimabukuro bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Shimabukuro moves out of range as Papu strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shimabukuro ducks under a wild hook from Papu.
Shimabukuro looks to land a right hand but Papu moved out of range.
It seemed like Papu was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Shimabukuro takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Shimabukuro is rocked!
Papu rushes Shimabukuro and presses him up against the cage.
Oh Shimabukuro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Papu just leaning against Shimabukuro, taking a breather.
Papu working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Papu lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Shimabukuro to his knees! Papu keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Abu Papu!
Our winner, Abu Papu, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
