Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Guilherme Santos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse Casper! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Casper throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Casper scores with a leg kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Casper. Casper looks for a takedown but Santos sprawls well. Casper wants to clinch up but Santos keeps it at a distance. Santos stuffs the takedown. Guilherme Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesse Casper. Nice sprawl there from Santos as Casper shoots in. Casper misses with a wild body shot. Santos throws a half hearted mid kick. Casper is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Casper misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Casper fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Santos lands a head kick. Casper smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
It looks like Jesse Casper has been cut. Casper scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Casper works his foot free and advances to mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Casper tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Casper looks gassed! Santos flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Santos swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Casper controlling from mount. Santos throwing hammer fists to the chest of Casper. What's that going to do exactly? Santos squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Santos is looking to improve his position but Casper isn't that keen on the idea. Santos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Casper controlling the pace for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Santos gets back to half guard. Santos looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Santos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Santos punching from the bottom.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Santos wants to control the action here but instead Casper manages to pass to full mount! Casper controlling the pace for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Casper's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Casper stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Casper shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Santos but Santos pushes him off and we're back to square one. Santos misses with a kick to the body.
Casper scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Santos sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Santos looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Casper decides to stand and escape the position. Casper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jesse Casper will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jesse Casper's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A low kick from Santos is predictable there and Casper counters with a slapping leg kick. Santos avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Casper fails with a takedown attempt. Santos throws a leg kick and Casper decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Santos's guard. Santos doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Santos looking for a sweep. Not yet Santos, not yet. Casper is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Casper trying to control but Santos is working from the bottom. Casper stands up and waves to Santos to follow him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Casper throws a series of punches but Santos moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Casper looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Santos is fending him off so far but Casper persists. Nope, Santos circles away and we're back to standing. Casper moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Casper is looking to clinch. Casper throws a body punch but Santos moves out of range. Casper tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Santos paws at him with a jab and circles away. Casper will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Guilherme Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesse Casper.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Casper checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Casper shoots in but Santos avoids the takedown attempt easily. Casper checks a leg kick. Santos doesn't succeed with the takedown so Casper counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Santos throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Santos is looking for a triangle but Casper pushes his legs off easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos keeping moving, preventing Casper from controlling successfully. Santos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Casper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Casper gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Horrible takedown by Casper or perhaps it was just good defense by Santos which made him look bad. Casper dodges the punch combination from Santos.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Santos takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Left hook, right uppercut from Casper. Casper shoots and misses and Santos counters with a series of strikes. Casper will be more careful next time no doubt. Santos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Casper as he jumps to the side. Guilherme Santos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Casper looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Santos has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Casper should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Santos has tightened it up now! Casper should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
