PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mansour Barnaoui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron Dogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Dogg's choice of entrance music: Kickstart My Heart. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnaoui takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Dogg pushes Barnaoui up against the cage in a clinch.

Dogg drags the fight down to the ground.
Barnaoui lands a couple of elbows.
Barnaoui postures up in Dogg's guard and throws a big left but Dogg blocks it.
Barnaoui trying to control the position from guard on top but Dogg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dogg is trying to hold Barnaoui in close to prevent damage but Barnaoui has managed to pass into half guard.

Dogg wants to control but Barnaoui is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Dogg is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Barnaoui will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Barnaoui is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dogg sees it coming and defends easily.
Dogg is looking to control Barnaoui's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dogg avoid being mounted?

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dogg dips to his left and cracks Barnaoui with an uppercut!
Some bone on bone action there as Dogg checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Dogg shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
A cross from Dogg lands.
Barnaoui pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dogg is looking to clinch.
Barnaoui throws a head kick that misses.
A jab lands there for Barnaoui.
Dogg uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Barnaoui.
Dogg ducks under a wild hook from Barnaoui.
Dogg swings for the body but Barnaoui moves out of range.
Mansour Barnaoui is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dogg shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Barnaoui throws a nice outside leg kick.
Dogg throws a looping overhand right but Barnaoui ducks down to avoid it.

Dogg has taken the fight to the clinch.

Dogg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Barnaoui misses with a low kick.
Dogg avoids a punch combination nicely.

Dogg shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barnaoui's guard.
Dogg won't allow Barnaoui to sweep him here.

Barnaoui is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dogg instigates a clinch.
Dogg jumps guard but Barnaoui stands there with Dogg around his waist. Dogg gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ron Dogg will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dogg fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dogg changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barnaoui tries to avoid it but Dogg manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barnaoui to the ground. Barnaoui escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Barnaoui misses the shot to the body.
Barnaoui sets himself, and Dogg steps forward looking for the clinch! Barnaoui avoids it this time.
Barnaoui bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dogg's head backwards.
Dogg scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Barnaoui doesn't seem bothered though.
Dogg shoots in for a takedown but Barnaoui shows good takedown defense.
Mansour Barnaoui has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ron Dogg.
Barnaoui connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Dogg is rocked!
Barnaoui finds Dogg's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Dogg flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Barnaoui lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Dogg will be OK.
