1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gandhi throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Smyith appears to be looking for a big counter. Gandhi looks to score with a jab to the body but Smyith is just out of range. Smyith throws a big counter combination but Gandhi scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. A momentary lapse in concentration from Smyith enables Gandhi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smyith manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Smyith could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Smyith seems keen to control Gandhi's posture. Gandhi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
