Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hector Linhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Star Dust (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Linhares's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Los Sicarios, Sokol, Koras - A veces. Dust is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Die for Metal. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Hector Linhares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Star Dust!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dust closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Linhares quickly recovers to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Linhares holds on and takes a little breather.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dust dives in and grabs Linhares's left leg, looking for a takedown. Linhares pushes down on Dust's head and hops out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Linhares takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Dust bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Dust is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Linhares knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dust throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Dust has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dust shoots in for a takedown but Linhares shows good takedown defense.
Linhares keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A little feinted left hand from Linhares on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

We've been told by Linhares's head coaches at School Of Fighting that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Linhares finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Dust thuds his right hand into Linhares's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Dust throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Linhares on the side of the head.

Dust has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Star Dust seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Linhares lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Dust looks to land a combination but Linhares avoids it well.

Dust shoots in looking for a takedown. Linhares tries to sprawl out of it but Dust keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Linhares manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Linhares counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dust connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Linhares momentarily.

Linhares has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Linhares there as he acknowledges the shot.

Linhares does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Dust connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Dust uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Linhares.
Linhares takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dust is defended easily by Linhares.

Dust throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Linhares works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Dust is just content to waste time from the top position. Linhares takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Star Dust.
Well Dust has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Star Dust spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
