Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Neddy Merrill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Plouman! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.

Merrill drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Plouman has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Plouman tries to bench press Merrill off him but Merrill keeps the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. You can see the frustration on Plouman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Merrill trying to control the position but Plouman is working away. Plouman prevents Merrill from moving into mount. Plouman tries to improve position but can't. Plouman struggling a bit here. Plouman is trying to improve his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Plouman is being controlled here.

Merrill is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Plouman is surviving well by controlling Merrill's body position as best he can. Plouman tries to hold on but Merrill pushes him away. Plouman tries to reverse the position but Merrill maintains control. Merrill avoids the attempt from Plouman to control. Merrill trying to control but Plouman is having none of it.

Merrill got a little sloppy there for a moment and Plouman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Merrill has managed to get both his arms back between Plouman's legs - danger averted. Merrill stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Plouman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Plouman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Merrill gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Plouman has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Merrill is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Plouman. Plouman tries to buck Merrill off but Merrill is having none of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Merrill wants to lay and pray for a moment but Plouman keeps working. Plouman looking for a sweep but Merrill has passed into full mount! Oh no! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Neddy Merrill dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Plouman doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Merrill counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Plouman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Plouman keeping moving, preventing Merrill from controlling successfully.
Plouman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Merrill defends well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Merrill missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Plouman has his foot on Merrill's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Merrill works his way back into a safe position though. Merrill slips nicely into half guard.

Plouman looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Merrill pushes past his half guard into mount! Plouman is looking to improve his position but Merrill isn't that keen on the idea. Plouman squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Merrill avoids the attempt from Plouman to control. Plouman is working to get back to half guard.
Merrill has hold of Plouman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Plouman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Merrill with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

A nice elbow there by Merrill. Merrill is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Plouman can do to turn this around? Plouman working to try and regain half guard.
Merrill looking to control but Plouman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Plouman is trying desperately to improve position. Plouman sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Plouman wants to get back to full guard. Merrill working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Plouman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neddy Merrill dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Merrill tries to close the distance and clinch up but Plouman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Merrill drives through and clinches with Plouman against the cage.
Plouman is working for takedown but Merrill is calmly controlling the position for now. Plouman blocks an uppercut.
Merrill pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Merrill tries to work over Plouman's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Plouman blocks a body shot from Merrill. Plouman tries to pull guard but Merrill holds him up against the cage and eventually Plouman drops back down to his feet.
Merrill tightens his grip and picks Plouman up, before dumping him to the ground. Plouman manages to land in guard.

Plouman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Merrill defends it easily.
Plouman throws his legs up looking for a submission but Merrill uses it to pass to side control.

Merrill moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Plouman. Merrill wants to control but Plouman is keeping him busy. Neddy Merrill is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight! Neddy Merrill showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Merrill, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
