Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Guillermo Espada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francois Permitis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Espada kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Greedy Fly. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Guillermo Espada! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Francois Permitis! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Permitis avoids the body shot from Espada.
Permitis tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Espada misses with a wild body shot. Permitis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Permitis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Espada tries to get back to half guard but can't. Permitis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Permitis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Espada tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Permitis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Espada gets back to half guard. Espada is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Espada is refusing to be controlled, as Permitis sits in half guard. Permitis tries to stand and escape but Espada is controlling the position. Permitis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Permitis is trying to control. Espada wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Permitis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Permitis is working for a kimura but Espada is defending it quite comfortably.

Espada has his hands clasped together around Permitis's back. He's all about the action. Espada trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Espada pushes Permitis off but Permitis dives into side control.
Permitis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Espada, who protects the arm well. Espada tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Permitis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Espada struggling a bit here. Permitis tries for a kimura but Espada is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Espada managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Permitis.
Permitis wants to control but Espada is keeping him busy. Espada is holding Permitis down, trying to stall. Espada is looking to regain half guard here but Permitis keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Permitis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Espada knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Espada struggling a bit here. Espada is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Permitis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Espada knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Permitis on the ground. Espada is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Espada is looking to reverse the position. Espada is trying to control Permitis's posture but Permitis avoids it. The strikes coming from Permitis are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Espada is not content to let Permitis control the position. Espada can't do much from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Espada takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Espada manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Espada seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Permitis actively working from the bottom here. Permitis on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Espada thows a huge punch but Permitis dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Espada sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Permitis defending well though. Espada thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Espada throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Permitis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Espada. Permitis gets full guard. Espada postures up and lands a big shot to Permitis's brow. Espada postures up in Permitis's guard and throws a big left but Permitis blocks it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Francois Permitis dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Permitis fails with a takedown attempt. Nice cross by Espada. Permitis shoots for a double leg takedown but Espada sprawls well. He's pushed Permitis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Espada scores with a jab to the head.
Espada takes a swing at Permitis's ribcage but misses. Permitis with the counter takedown but Espada avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Espada scores with a jab to the body. Espada lands with a shot to the body. Espada is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Espada just misses with a punch to the body.
Permitis drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Espada defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Espada is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Espada tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Permitis was well out of range. Poor timing from Espada. Espada lands a jab to the head.
It looks like Francois Permitis has been cut. Espada misses with a wild body shot. Francois Permitis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Espada with a nice cross. Espada lands a really nice looking cross but Permitis seems unphased.
Espada is looking to wear down Permitis with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Permitis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Espada is looking to regain half guard here but Permitis keeps moving and retains side control. Espada is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Permitis can do to turn this around? Permitis has knee on belly and moves into mount. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Permitis looking to control but Espada is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Espada tries to improve his position but Permitis has taken his back! Permitis has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Espada tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Permitis pushes Espada away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
