Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Francis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Coshak! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jonathan Paton and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coshak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Francis circles away. Coshak tries for a takedown but Francis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Coshak closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Francis did well to prevent Coshak getting side control. Francis pushes Coshak off and gets back to his feet. Francis shoots in looking for a takedown. Coshak tries to sprawl out of it but Francis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coshak manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Francis throws a wild body kick that Coshak sees coming a mile off. Coshak darts in looking for a takedown but Francis gets double underhooks and turns Coshak into the cage. James Francis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Coshak. Coshak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Francis circles away. Coshak looks winded! Francis has closed the distance and engaged Coshak in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Coshak is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Francis to keep the fight standing. Francis breaks the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Coshak stalling away here and it's allowed Francis to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Coshak avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Francis can't keep his opponent in guard - Coshak advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Francis is looking for a sweep. Coshak is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Coshak is looking for a kimura but Francis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Coshak to get the leverage. Francis is looking for a sweep. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Coshak uses from the top position. Coshak drops back looking for a leg! Francis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Francis manages to kick Coshak off! Coshak jumps back into Francis's guard. Coshak being controlled here momentarily. Francis looking to sweep here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Coshak trying to control the action but Francis is working from the bottom. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Coshak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Francis keeps working. Coshak tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Coshak tries for a kimura but Francis is defending well. Coshak is trying to get an arm triangle but Francis is defending well. Coshak goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Francis rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Coshak's guard! Nice work there by Francis! Coshak looking for a guillotine here but Francis defends easily.
Francis trying to control the position from guard on top but Coshak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Francis dominated that round. That's time! Francis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A head kick from Francis lands but Coshak takes it in his stride. Francis closes the distance and clinches. Francis prevents Coshak from breaking the clinch. Coshak has clasped his hands together around Francis's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Francis tries to get back to half guard but can't. Francis can't do much from the bottom here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Francis tries to buck Coshak off but Coshak is having none of it. Coshak is staying tight to Francis's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Coshak is trying to get an arm triangle but Francis is defending well. Francis struggling a bit here. Francis trying to remain calm as Coshak controls from the top position. Coshak advances nicely into full mount. Francis tries to hold on but Coshak pushes him away. Francis can't escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Coshak is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Francis is surviving well by controlling Coshak's body position as best he can. My spies in School of Hard Knocks inform me that Coshak has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Coshak is breathing heavily. Francis is trying desperately to improve position. Francis in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Francis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Coshak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Francis wants to get back to his feet.
Coshak looking to secure an arm triangle but Francis defends it well. Coshak with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Francis defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Coshak. Coshak controlling from mount. Francis wants to control but Coshak is having none of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Coshak trying to control but he's not successful this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Coshak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Francis looking to sit in guard and control but Coshak gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coshak passes into half guard.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James Coshak! A less than humble James Coshak misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
