Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Don't Mean A Thing. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Troy Powers! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Powers. It seemed like Powers was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Nelson pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Powers drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Nelson defends it well. Nelson misses with an uppercut
and Nelson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Nelson lands with a hook. Powers tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
It looks like Troy Powers has been cut. Powers misses with a looping left. A big right from Nelson misses. Nelson misses with a combination
and Powers counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Roy Nelson has been cut. Nelson takes one to the chin there. Nelson thows a left - swing and a miss! Powers walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Nelson throws the left hand but Powers avoids the punch easily. Nelson throws a lazy right hand but Powers sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Powers needs to keep his hands up - Nelson had a free shot at his head there. Nelson lunges at Powers with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Powers's hand. Roy Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Powers avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nelson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Powers counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Still in the clinch, Powers scores with a nice short uppercut. Powers is working for takedown but Nelson is calmly controlling the position for now. Powers lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Nelson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nelson lands a slapping body shot.
Nice shot lands for Nelson. Nelson gets caught napping as Powers dives in and scores a takedown. Nelson manages to retain guard. Nelson pushes Powers off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nelson moves out of range as Powers throws a body kick.
It looked like Nelson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Nelson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Nelson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Powers's head. Nelson throws a big shot that misses. Powers lands a nice shot that snaps Nelson's head back.
Nelson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Powers on the side of the head. Nelson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nelson throws a lazy right hand but Powers sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Nelson connects with a crisp jab. Nelson throws a poor cross that misses
and Powers counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Powers stops Nelson from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Nelson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Powers wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Powers loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nelson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Powers trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Powers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Nelson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Powers working some strikes from top position. Powers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Powers loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Nelson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Powers is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Powers advances position into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Powers tries to move to mount but Nelson blocks the move with his legs. Powers throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Powers throws an elbow but Nelson slips to the side and avoids it well. Nelson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Powers.
Nelson is trying to control Powers's posture but Powers avoids it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Nelson is looking for a sweep.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Powers uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nelson.
Nelson is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Nelson looks to land a right hand but Powers moved out of range. Nelson misses with a lunging right hand
letting Powers counter with a right hand. Powers uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nelson. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roy Nelson dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Left hook, right uppercut from Nelson. Powers slips a jab from Nelson. Nelson throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A big left from Powers misses. Nelson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Powers to score an easy takedown into full guard. Powers postures up.
Nelson pushes Powers off and scrambles back to his feet.
Nelson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Nelson duly obliges.
That has opened up Troy Powers's cut even more. This has been an exciting period of action! A combination from Nelson does no damage. Powers slips under a jab. Nelson throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Powers counters with a stiff right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Nelson finds it's way through Powers's defenses. Nelson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Powers scores with a jab. Powers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nelson sprawls well. Nelson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Powers gets slowly back to his feet. Nelson cracks Powers with a right hand to the side of the head. Nelson lands with a right hand.
The cut above Troy Powers's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Nelson scores with a jab. Powers acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Powers is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Powers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Powers is still on wobbly legs! Can Nelson finish him? This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nelson throws a pinpoint strike between Powers's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Powers crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Nelson scores a great knockout victory!
