Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Doug Hoo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Barros! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barros darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Hoo is looking to control Barros's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hoo avoid being mounted? Hoo wants to get back to full guard. Barros missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Barros is pressing down on Hoo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hoo is holding on for now. Hoo wants to control but Barros is keeping busy and won't allow it. Barros is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Hoo has managed to free his arm - good work. Barros trying to control from half guard but Hoo is working away. Barros thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hoo looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Hoo wants to control from the top but Barros keeps moving. Barros working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hoo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hoo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barros looking for subs off his back but Hoo has passed one foot through into half guard.
Barros is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hoo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hoo's back! Barros should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Barros is hanging on to Hoo's back as he tries to escape.
Hoo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Barros looks gassed! Hoo is desperately trying to improve his position but Barros has a good base and remains in mount. Hoo is controlling an arm, preventing Barros from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Hoo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Hoo is concentrating on defense, preventing Barros from advancing position. Hoo is pressing down on Barros's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barros preventing the sweep. Hoo has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Hoo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hoo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Barros is working to get back to half guard.

Hoo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Barros can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hoo looking to secure an arm triangle but Barros defends it well. Hoo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. A nice elbow there by Hoo. Barros tries to reverse the position but Hoo maintains control. Barros takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Hoo landing shots from mount. Hoo lands a nice shot to the head. Hoo lands a big elbow. Hoo content just to control the position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barros is looking to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoo is in the full mount, landing strikes.
It looks like Ricardo Barros has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hoo landing punches. Hoo punishing his opponent with strikes.
Barros is rocked! Hoo landing punches. Barros is still in real trouble! Can Hoo finish him?
That has opened up Ricardo Barros's cut even more. Oooooh, big shot lands for Hoo! Barros is hurt baaadly! Hoo is firing away with more strikes - Barros is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
