Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Harold Morris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dorian Heyward! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morris closes this distance looking for a takedown but Heyward circles away. Heyward throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Heyward gets tackled into the cage by Morris. Morris maintains the clinch. Morris tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Heyward just stands there and leans against the cage. Morris fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harold Morris. That's going to take a lot out of him. Morris is trying to pull guard but Heyward turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Heyward breaks the clinch.
Heyward misses with a few strikes there.
Heyward lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morris doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Heyward throws a right hand that Morris ducks under and follows up with a left that Morris also avoids with ease. A lazy left from Heyward finds it's target. Heyward connects with a nice looking jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Heyward throws a head kick but Morris moves out of range.
A quick step to the side and Morris tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Heyward misses with a two punch combination.
Morris is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Heyward. Morris throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Heyward appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Heyward throws a wild body kick that Morris sees coming a mile off. Morris fails to land the takedown. Morris is breathing heavily. Heyward measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Morris! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Dorian Heyward!
