The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Meehan is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Alvarez presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Meehan can't get the takedown.
Meehan drags the fight down to the ground.
Meehan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alvarez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alvarez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Meehan will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Alvarez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Oh but Meehan is tightening it up a little... Alvarez has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Alvarez reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Alvarez taps out! Nice BJJ there by Meehan!
