Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mariano Stanley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denerson Lage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Denerson Lage will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Denerson Lage! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lage clinches up against the cage. Stanley gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lage.
Lage wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lage tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Stanley's elbow. Lage has Stanley pushed against the cage. Lage is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lage is trying to break the clinch but Stanley has him pressed against the cage. Stanley working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Stanley is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lage to keep the fight standing.

Lage pulls guard. Stanley loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lage is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Stanley with a flurry of punches that miss. Lage controls Stanley momentarily but Stanley frees himself. Lage looking for a sweep. Not yet Lage, not yet. Stanley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stanley throws an elbow that misses. Lage uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Stanley's guard. Nice move by Lage! Stanley keeping moving, preventing Lage from controlling successfully.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lage looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Denerson Lage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stanley moves out of range of the body kick. Lage tries for a takedown but Stanley circles away easily and Stanley decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lage's guard. Mariano Stanley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denerson Lage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stanley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lage wants to stand but Stanley is controlling the position. Stanley chips away with some ground and pound. Lage is working an open guard so Stanley takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Lage clinches up against the cage. Lage looks winded! Lage ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stanley moves away. Stanley attempts a counter takedown but Lage avoids it well and moves away. Lage fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Stanley throws a big counter combination but Lage scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Lage fails with a takedown attempt. Stanley is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Lage. A punch combination from Stanley misses. Lage lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Lage looks for a takedown but Stanley sprawls well. Stanley jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Lage manages to avoid the submission attempt. Lage is working to avoid the ground and pound but Stanley connects with a decent elbow. Stanley stands up. Stanley displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Mariano Stanley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stanley waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lage. Lage darts in and clinches Stanley up against the cage. Stanley keeps control of Lage as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Lage looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Lage jumps guard but Stanley stands there with Lage around his waist. Lage gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stanley tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lage smiles and moves away.

Mariano Stanley dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Mariano Stanley's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Lage shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stanley defends it nicely. Stanley tries to counter with a takedown but Lage is quick to defend against it. Stanley stuffs the takedown. Lage shoots in and drives through. Stanley sprawls well. Mariano Stanley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denerson Lage. Lage throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stanley tries to counter with a takedown but Lage is quick to defend against it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lage tries for a takedown but Stanley circles away easily and Stanley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lage won't be happy with that. Lage takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Stanley looks up at the clock and then as Lage takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stanley smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Lage takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stanley decides to stand back up. Stanley steps back and let's Lage get back to his feet. Stanley throws a nice looking combination but Lage bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Lage throws out a counter right but Stanley avoids it with no problem. Stanley lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Stanley has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Lage throws a left and a right that both miss
and Stanley counters with a single leg into guard. Lage didn't expect that. Stanley is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Stanley landing with the ground and pound. Stanley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Stanley postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Stanley lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Stanley lands a couple of digs. Stanley working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lage's head.

Stanley wants to get up but he can't break Lage's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Stanley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stanley works over Lage with some ground and pound from guard. And that's the end of the fight! Mariano Stanley showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stanley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
