Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Devon Paul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Conor McFall! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McFall throws a series of punches but Paul moves out of range. McFall shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Paul is trying to defend but McFall finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. McFall tries to stand but his arm is trapped. McFall is looking to take a break and control but Paul is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Paul wants to improve his position but McFall is controlling well.
Paul really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. McFall keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paul kicks off McFall and gets to his feet. The fight moves into the clinch position. McFall manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. McFall is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. McFall looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Paul with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Paul knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McFall on the ground. McFall trying to control from half guard but Paul is working away. Paul tries to kick McFall off but McFall keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Paul trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. McFall wants to stand but Paul has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. McFall seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Paul tries to kick McFall off but McFall keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. McFall is figuring out what he wants to do next. Paul tries to kick McFall off in order to stand up. McFall Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. McFall controlling the position from side mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Paul is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Paul tries to improve position but can't. McFall tries for a kimura but Paul is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McFall wants to stand but Paul is controlling his arm. Paul tries to buck McFall off but McFall is having none of it. Paul is trying to get back to his feet. Paul is not content to let McFall control the position. Paul takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Paul is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, McFall asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McFall working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. McFall lands a few punches from side control. McFall gets to mount! Paul was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Paul has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Paul trying to get back to his feet but McFall is in full control for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McFall is working for a rear naked choke. Paul is not defending it well and McFall has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Paul refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Paul's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
