Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Sednev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Franklin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Sednev!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Franklin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sednev's guard.
Franklin wants to stand but Sednev has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sednev has Franklin pulled in close to control his posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Franklin throwing strikes but missing.
Sednev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Sednev looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Franklin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Franklin shoots for a takedown but Sednev saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Franklin is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sednev can't fight it off and eventually Franklin manages to take the fight to the floor. Sednev looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Franklin looking to sit in guard and control but Sednev gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sednev wants to stand but Franklin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Sednev's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Franklin lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sednev can do anything to dispel that myth.
Franklin is looking to work some ground and pound but Sednev has wrist control.

Sednev seems keen to control Franklin's posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Franklin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sednev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Franklin defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Franklin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sednev is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Sednev tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Franklin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Franklin tries to sprawl but Sednev drives through with a takedown into half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sednev is controlling the pace.
Sednev is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sednev drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Franklin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sednev controls from within his opponent's guard.
Franklin is wriggling around but Sednev manages to pass to half guard.
Franklin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Sednev is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Franklin is trying desperately to improve position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sednev sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Sednev is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Franklin defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Sednev really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Franklin.

Sednev lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
The referee is taking a good look at Franklin as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Sednev!

Sednev is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Franklin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

What can Franklin do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Alex Sednev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Sednev takes a swing at Franklin's ribcage but misses.
It looked like Franklin was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Sednev throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Franklin was covering up waiting for the punch and Sednev finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Franklin sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sednev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sednev is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
