Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ardian Kurniawan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikey Hopkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mikey Hopkins told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopkins leaves Kurniawan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kurniawan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Hopkins counter with a right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ardian Kurniawan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kurniawan is defended easily by Hopkins.
Hopkins paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kurniawan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hopkins defends well and Kurniawan ends up having to push Hopkins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Hopkins counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hopkins pounces like a tiger and cracks Kurniawan with a vicious hook! Kurniawan is down but not out! Hopkins follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Mikey Hopkins decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
