Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Emery Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Big John!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

John closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hogan to the mat! Hogan manages to get full guard.
John stops Hogan from standing up.
John seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
John wants to stand but Hogan is controlling his posture from full guard.
John must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
John chips away with some ground and pound.
Hogan trying to control the position.
John tries to free his leg and advance position but Hogan is retaining full guard.
Hogan really is a fat lump.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hogan manages to escape and get back to his feet!

John drives through with a takedown into Hogan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
John would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hogan is adopting a defensive guard.

Hogan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. John defends it easily.

Hogan wants to stand and escape but John is having none of it.

John tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hogan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hogan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but John manages to circle out of the way.

John moves into the clinch.

Hogan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hogan wants to break the clinch but can't.
Stalling in the clinch from John.
Hogan is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
John tries to pull guard but Hogan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Hogan manages to break the clinch.
John tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hogan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big John dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



John closes the distance and pushes Hogan back into the cage.
John has Hogan pushed against the cage.
John tries to pull guard but Hogan holds him up against the cage and eventually John drops back down to his feet.
John controlling the action here for a moment.

Hogan breaks from the clinch.
Hogan swats away the attempt to clinch by John.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

John shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than John was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hogan wants to control but John postures up.
John tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Big John has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hogan is trying to buck John off.
John staying calm.

John decides to stand back up. John steps back and let's Hogan get back to his feet.
Big John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hogan dives in and grabs John's left leg, looking for a takedown. John pushes down on Hogan's head and hops out.

John looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Hogan makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

John closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hogan quickly recovers to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
John tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hogan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
John has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
John wants to advance to full mount but Hogan doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
John is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

John is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hogan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hogan has escaped and now he's on top!

John throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hogan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. John is in Hogan's guard.
Hogan is looking to stand up but John isn't so interested in that idea.
John is in close to Hogan's body, working some short punches and elbows.
John is looking to advance position but Hogan has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
John is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
John tries to hold on but Hogan postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big John showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

John is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Hogan still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Hogan has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Hogan with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Hogan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
John tries to buck Hogan off but Hogan takes his back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
John is in bad spot here.

Hogan has the hooks in. John is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

John staying busy and making it hard for Hogan to control.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Hogan controlling the positon.
Hogan doesn't have the hooks in and John manages to turn into his guard.
John is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
John trying to move into half guard but instead Hogan has managed to sweep!
John tries to land a sweep but no joy.

John is looking to sweep but instead, Hogan has passed into half guard.
Hogan not landing any meaningful shots this time.
John is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Hogan jumps into side control!
Hogan tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
John is looking to regain half guard here but Hogan keeps moving and retains side control.
Emery Hogan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Big John is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if John can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Emery Hogan.
I think John has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
