Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tamati Ngata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michael Vaugh!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vaugh takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Ngata gets the takedown into side control.
Vaugh gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Ngata lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Vaugh has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Vaugh manages to get to full guard.
Vaugh avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Vaugh looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ngata working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vaugh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ngata controlling the position well.
Vaugh tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ngata knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vaugh trying to control from half guard but Ngata is working away.

Vaugh is trying to work for a kimura but Ngata is defending well.
Vaugh is keen to just control but Ngata is a slippery customer.

Vaugh is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ngata defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Vaugh wants to take a breather but Ngata is having none of it.

Vaugh is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ngata is just riding it out for now. Vaugh eventually gives up the hold.
Ngata trying to get back to full guard but Vaugh takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Ngata tries to hold on but Vaugh pushes him away.
Vaugh tries to control but Ngata wriggling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vaugh wants to take Ngata's back here but Ngata is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Ngata tries to reverse the position but Vaugh maintains control.
Ngata knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vaugh on the ground.

Vaugh is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Vaugh!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Michael Vaugh!
