Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Murdock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Elroy Kleinschmidt! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Joseph Jones and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kleinschmidt fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Murdock has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Elroy Kleinschmidt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Murdock scores with a jab to the head.
Kleinschmidt scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Kleinschmidt moves out of range of the strikes. Murdock throws a series of punches but Kleinschmidt moves out of range. Kleinschmidt throws a body punch but Murdock moves out of range. Murdock seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Murdock wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Both fighters circling a little - Kleinschmidt finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Kleinschmidt lands with a good body shot. Murdock is breathing heavily. Murdock misses with a lunging right hand
and Kleinschmidt counters with a good, hard body kick but Murdock shrugs it off. Kleinschmidt pushes Murdock away with a front kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Kleinschmidt cracks Murdock with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Murdock looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Kleinschmidt finish him?
It looks like Jack Murdock has been cut. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kleinschmidt.
Kleinschmidt lands with a thumping leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kleinschmidt blocks a jab. A nice leg kick lands there from Kleinschmidt. Murdock takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. A good leg kick by Kleinschmidt. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Kleinschmidt - that will leave a mark!
Kleinschmidt thumps Murdock with a low kick. Kleinschmidt scores with the left hand. Murdock knows he should have avoided that one. Kleinschmidt lands a big uppercut and Murdock crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Murdock looks OK. Kleinschmidt waves Murdock back to his feet!
Murdock is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kleinschmidt buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Oh Murdock is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kleinschmidt looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Kleinschmidt backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Murdock's temple! It sends Murdock violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Kleinschmidt celebrates and the doctors try to help Murdock!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Elroy Kleinschmidt! Elroy Kleinschmidt tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
