Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopkins has his takedown stuffed
and Quessey counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hopkins fails with a takedown attempt.
Quessey looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Hopkins wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Quessey manages to pass to side control.
Quessey keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quessey seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Quessey is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hopkins defends it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quessey passes the guard and advances to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quessey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Hopkins is trying to remain composed but Quessey is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
