PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Richard Blood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejandro Jodorowsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alejandro Jodorowsky is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Blood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Alejandro Jodorowsky!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Blood shoots in but Jodorowsky avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jodorowsky leaves Blood with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've been hearing reports that Blood has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Jodorowsky throws an overhand right that lands on Blood's shoulder, as Blood tries to avoid the shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jodorowsky throws a leg kick but Blood sees it coming and moves out of range.
Blood appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
A shot to the body from Jodorowsky misses

and Blood counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Blood is standing up over Jodorowsky. Jodorowsky looks to escape but Blood dives into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blood tries to advance to mount but Jodorowsky denies him.

Blood is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jodorowsky knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Blood tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Blood goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jodorowsky rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Blood's guard! Nice work there by Jodorowsky!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jodorowsky is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Blood keeping moving, preventing Jodorowsky from controlling successfully.
Blood looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jodorowsky is one step ahead there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jodorowsky stays in close to Blood's body and controls the position.
Blood looking for a sweep. Not yet Blood, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blood is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Blood is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jodorowsky is looking for a sweep. Blood is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jodorowsky moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jodorowsky just misses with a punch to the body.
Jodorowsky throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Blood feinted with a counter takedown.
Blood closes the distance and clinches up with Jodorowsky, looking for a takedown. Blood pushes Jodorowsky against the cage but Jodorowsky circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jodorowsky tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard Blood. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blood shoots for a double leg takedown but Jodorowsky sprawls well. He's pushed Blood's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jodorowsky drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Blood defends it well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Blood circles away from the clinch attempt.
Blood fails with the takedown.
Jodorowsky tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Alejandro Jodorowsky will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Blood drives through with a takedown into Jodorowsky's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Blood pushes down on Jodorowsky's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jodorowsky is trying to control but can't.
Jodorowsky avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Blood.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blood throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Blood is working for a submission of some sort.

Blood is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jodorowsky sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jodorowsky is not content to let Blood control the position.
Blood works his way into full mount!
Blood tries to control but Jodorowsky wriggling away.
Blood is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jodorowsky can do to turn this around?
Jodorowsky tries to hold on but Blood pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Blood swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
