7 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Chan! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chan lands a head kick!
Chan misses with a wild body shot. It looked like Malavino was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Malavino lands a nice looking kick to the body. Chan takes a step back to recover. Malavino thuds his shin into the meat of Chan's side. Chan misses with a body kick. Chan scores with a nice body kick.
Malavino throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chan. Nice straight punches there by Malavino. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Malavino. Malavino throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Malavino connects with a right hand. Chan shakes it off. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A leg kick checked by Malavino. An attempted straight right counter from Malavino misses the target. An inside leg kick from Malavino misses. Chan is looking for the big counter here. Chan avoids a kick to the body.
Chan throws a counter combo. Chan moves out of range of the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Malavino misses with a low kick.
Malavino throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Chan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Malavino lands with a straight right. Chan didn't see that one coming. Malavino misses with a two punch combination.
Malavino swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Malavino is looking to chop away at Chan's legs. Malavino throws a shot to the body.
No joy there for Malavino, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Malavino lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Malavino has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Brutal Force Training in the buildup to the fight. Malavino scores with a jab. Chan acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Chan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Malavino. That one must have hurt. Malavino scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Chan is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chan drops his guard momentarily, allowing Malavino to crack him with a picture perfect lead left hook! Boom! Down goes Chan! Oh, he's in big trouble - I don't like his chances here as the referee's count reaches 5. 6,7,8,9...10! He's out! Malavino takes it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Arroyo Malavino! Our winner, Arroyo Malavino, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
