Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Captain Canada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canada has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Captain Canada looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Captain Canada! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rafael Mendes! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Canada looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Horrible takedown by Mendes or perhaps it was just good defense by Canada which made him look bad. Canada lands with an overhand left. Mendes moves into the clinch. Canada wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mendes connects with a nasty looking knee right to Canada's face.
It looks like Captain Canada has been cut. Mendes manages to break the clinch.
Mendes moves into the clinch. Mendes turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Mendes blocks the strikes from Canada.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendes taking a breather here. Canada striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Mendes decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes pushes Canada up against the cage in a clinch. Mendes wants a takedown.
Mendes connects with a nasty looking knee right to Canada's face.

Mendes throws a right and a left that Canada avoids nicely. Mendes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Canada looks to throw the jab but Mendes is out of range. Captain Canada is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Some wild striking there from Mendes.
Mendes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Captain Canada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Mendes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Canada swats him away and circles back towards the center. Canada throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mendes sees it coming and avoids it easily. Canada avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mendes steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Canada. A punch lands to the side of Mendes 's head but he takes it in his stride. Mendes plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Mendes pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Canada connects with a crisp jab. Canada defending well as Mendes loads up on a big left hand. Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Canada paws at him with a jab and circles away. Canada misses with a combination
and Mendes counters with a solid body kick. Mendes is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Canada throws a left and a right that both miss

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Canada is pressed up against the cage. Mendes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Canada down to the mat. Canada avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Mendes connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Canada swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mendes counters by clinching up. Mendes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mendes defending well as Canada loads up on a big left hand. Mendes tries to move into range but Canada moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Mendes throws a head kick that misses. Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Canada swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mendes gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Canada. Captain Canada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mendes has Canada up against the cage in a clinch.
Canada is trying to break free. Mendes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Canada swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mendes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mendes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rafael Mendes dominated that round. The cut man is working on Captain Canada's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Canada throws a hook but Mendes avoids it easily. Mendes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Canada, pushing him back against the cage. Mendes leaning against his opponent.
Mendes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A swing and a miss from Canada. Canada is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Mendes has managed to clinch.
Mendes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mendes is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mendes rushes Canada and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mendes breaks from the clinch.
Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch but Canada swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mendes lands a head kick. Canada smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes darts in and clinches Canada up against the cage. Mendes stalling in the clinch.
Mendes prevents Canada from breaking the clinch. Canada wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Mendes gets control of Canada's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mendes will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Canada is looking to work some ground and pound but Mendes has wrist control. Canada throwing strikes but missing. Mendes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Canada throws a big right hand that misses. Mendes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Canada stops Mendes from standing up. Canada wants to pass the guard but Mendes is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mendes slips a jab and a cross from Canada.
Mendes moves into the clinch successfully.
Mendes unloads a knee to the mid-section. Canada lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Mendes drops down looking for an ankle pick but Canada pulls his leg out and moves away.
Canada scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Canada throws a combination that misses and Mendes counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Canada is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Canada is working hard here to advance position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendes throwing shots but Canada is blocking nicely. Mendes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Canada wants to get back to his feet.

Canada has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Canada is looking for a sweep. Mendes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Canada punching from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mendes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Mendes scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Canada throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mendes takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Mendes acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Canada on the wrong end of a nice hook. Mendes fails with an attempt to clinch.

Rafael Mendes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Captain Canada's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Mendes scores with a push kick. Canada lands with a cross. Mendes ducks under a wild hook from Canada. Mendes lands with a thumping leg kick.

The fighters are battling for position here. Canada manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Canada wants to sweep but no luck. Canada wriggles free and stands up. Mendes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Canada. Mendes walks into a straight right hand from Canada.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Canada swats away the attempt to clinch by Mendes. A slow jab from Canada misses its intended target. Mendes looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Mendes forces Canada back against the cage and clinches. Mendes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Canada takes a shot right to the bread basket. Captain Canada has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rafael Mendes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mendes slips under a jab from Canada.
And that's the end of the fight! Rafael Mendes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mendes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
