Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
50 - 25 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sly Randolph! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Dylan McKay! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Randolph throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McKay tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Randolph is in McKay's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Randolph wants to pass the guard but McKay is keeping the position. Randolph drops back, looking for a kneebar! McKay looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McKay looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McKay! Randolph is trying to get back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McKay wants to stand but Randolph is controlling his arm. McKay is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Randolph's shoulder. That is not cool. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. McKay stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Randolph with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Randolph shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Randolph shoots in for a takedown but McKay shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. McKay steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. McKay takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Dylan McKay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Randolph moves into the clinch. A nice right hand lands inside from McKay. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Randolph as McKay tries to tie him up. Randolph throws a punch but it's blocked by McKay. Randolph tries for a takedown. No joy.
McKay breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Randolph shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McKay sprawls well. McKay wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Randolph gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sly Randolph. That's going to take a lot out of him. McKay gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Randolph. A cross from McKay lands. This has been an exciting period of action! Randolph throws a looping overhand right but McKay ducks down to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McKay drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Jab, jab by McKay - just one landing. Randolph tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Dylan McKay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Randolph connects with a single shot there.
McKay is rocked! Nice takedown defense from McKay. No joy for Randolph on that attempt. McKay moves away from the strike by Randolph. And McKay responds with a good body kick, but Randolph manages to step out the way in time. Randolph wants to clinch but McKay slips to the side and McKay counters with a nice uppercut. A decent looking cross lands there for McKay. Randolph paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. McKay is still on wobbly legs! Can Randolph finish him?
It looks like Dylan McKay has been cut. Randolph lands a nice shot to the body.
McKay slaps away a takedown attempt from Randolph, before circling back to the center of the mat. McKay throws a sloppy body shot
and Randolph counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks McKay out cold! What a finish! Randolph is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sly Randolph!
