The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardenas fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Malich changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Cardenas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Malich is defending against the submission attempts here by Cardenas.
Cardenas is looking for a kimura here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Malich has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cardenas is working away from the top position though.

Cardenas stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Malich has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Cardenas manages to get his head free but now Malich has transitioned to an armbar! Cardenas grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Malich! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ratko Malich decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
