Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tavares throws a series of punches but West avoids them all with ease.
Tavares throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tavares closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Clinton West has been cut.

West drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've been hearing good reports from West's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Tavares is looking to stand up but West isn't so interested in that idea.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tavares uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before West has time to react.
