Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ajen Robben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes to the cage accompanied by All I do is Win. John Davis looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ajen Robben!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Robben moves into range and clinches up with Davis.
Davis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Robben breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Robben shoots in but Davis avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Robben clinches up against the cage.

Robben breaks the clinch.
Robben tries for a takedown but Davis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Robben chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Davis can pounce on him.
Davis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Robben but Robben pushes him off and we're back to square one.
John Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Robben gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knees to the body from Robben.
Robben takes an elbow to the forehead.
Davis has been working on his balance at Cozad The Island, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Robben.

Robben is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Robben is looking for a takedown.
John Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ajen Robben.

Robben tries to score a body lock takedown but Davis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Davis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Robben closes the distance and pushes Davis back into the cage.
Davis tries to break the clinch but Robben is controlling the position.

Robben escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Davis tries to land a front kick but Robben steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Robben moves into the clinch successfully.
Robben tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Davis smiles and moves away.

Robben has taken the fight to the clinch.

Robben avoids a wild elbow strike from Davis.
Davis is trying to pull guard but Robben has him pressed against the cage.

Robben's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Davis shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Robben tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Robben somewhat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis leaves Robben with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Davis throws a right and a left that Robben avoids nicely.
Robben shoots in but no luck this time.

Robben clinches up with Davis and pushes him back against the cage.

Robben manages to break the clinch.
Davis throws a quick inside leg kick.
Robben keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Davis throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
And Robben tries to counter it with a takedown but Davis pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Robben has closed the distance and engaged Davis in a clinch.

Robben breaks the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Robben drives through and clinches with Davis against the cage.

Robben decides to pull guard.
Robben has Davis pulled in close to control his posture.

Robben manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Robben gets control of Davis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Robben will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ajen Robben dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A slapping body kick lands there for Robben.

Davis rushes Robben and presses him up against the cage.
Davis prevents the takedown attempt.

Robben breaks the clinch.
Robben shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Davis but Davis pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Davis throws a leg kick
and Robben counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Davis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Robben lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Davis walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Davis throws a combination. Robben tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Davis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Robben gets a clinch.

Robben misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Davis is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Robben.
John Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ajen Robben.
Davis doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Ajen Robben seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Robben misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Davis shoots for a takedown but Robben saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Davis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Robben throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Davis.
Robben shoots in looking for a takedown but Davis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Robben's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Davis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Robben shoots for a double leg takedown but Davis sprawls well. He's pushed Robben's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Davis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Robben changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davis tries to avoid it but Robben manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davis to the ground. Davis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Robben counters with a two punch combo.
Davis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Robben manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Robben misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Davis looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Robben drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Robben successfully pulls guard.
Robben is trying to control the position but Davis postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Robben is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Davis, into his guard.
Robben is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Davis trying to control the position.
Robben controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Robben in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ajen Robben showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Robben breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice sprawl there from Davis as Robben shoots in.
Robben tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Davis swivels and escapes.
Robben changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davis tries to avoid it but Robben manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davis to the ground. Davis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
John Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ajen Robben.
Robben avoids a punch combination nicely.
Davis tries to clinch there but Robben circles away.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Robben darts in and clinches Davis up against the cage.
Robben jumps guard but Davis stands there with Robben around his waist. Robben gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Davis using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Robben has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Robben wants to break free but Davis has control.

Davis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Robben fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
John Davis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Davis throws a hook to the side of Robben's head but Robben sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Robben shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Davis defends it nicely.

Davis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Davis stuffs the takedown.
Davis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davis wants it to stay on the feet.
Davis lets loose with a powerful body kick. Robben will feel that in the morning.
Nice takedown defense from Davis. No joy for Robben on that attempt.
Davis throws a big counter combination but Robben scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Robben shoots for a double leg takedown but Davis sprawls well. He's pushed Robben's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Robben doesn't manage to clinch there - Davis circles away.

Robben shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Davis pinned against the cage. Davis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Robben tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Davis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The referee is keeping an eye on Robben - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Robben drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Davis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Davis throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Davis lets loose with a powerful body kick. Robben will feel that in the morning.
John Davis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Davis throws a sloppy head kick and Robben moves out of range easily.

Ajen Robben is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Davis misses with a short punch on the inside.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Davis showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Robben has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
