Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lee Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lee Bruce! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Johnson! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bruce scores with a nice body kick.
Bruce tries to clinch there but Johnson circles away.
Johnson looks to score with a jab to the body but Bruce is just out of range. Bruce moves into the clinch. A short uppercut from Bruce. Johnson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bruce gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Bruce closes the distance and clinches. Johnson tries to stall but Bruce uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Bruce pulls guard. Bruce wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it. Johnson looking to pass the guard. Johnson stands up and waves to Bruce to follow him. Nice sprawl there from Bruce as Johnson shoots in. Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Bruce on that attempt. The fight moves into the clinch position.

Bruce breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Johnson feints and as Bruce raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Bruce being controlled here, momentarily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bruce not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Bruce wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance. Bruce doesn't manage to clinch there - Johnson circles away.
Bruce gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Johnson counters by clinching up. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Bruce. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bruce tries a knee to the head but Johnson blocks it.

Johnson jumps guard but Bruce stands there with Johnson around his waist. Johnson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Bruce takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Bruce tries to land a knee to the head but Johnson blocks with his arms.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bruce moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Bruce checks the leg kick. Bruce avoids a kick to the body.
Bruce tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Johnson counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Johnson wants to get back to striking at distance but Bruce won't allow it.

Bruce is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Johnson is keeping busy. Bruce landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Bruce goes for a takedown attempt but Johnson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Bruce moves out of range of the body kick. Johnson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lee Bruce will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

He shot from a bit too far out. Johnson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Bruce throws a head kick that misses and Johnson counters with a single leg into guard. Bruce didn't expect that. Johnson looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Bruce is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up. Johnson wants to stand but Bruce has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Johnson postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bruce is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bruce is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Johnson misses with a low kick. Bruce moves into range and clinches up with Johnson. Bruce scores a nice knee to the body.
Johnson keeps control of Bruce as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Johnson slows down the pace here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bruce is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johnson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bruce's back instead. Bruce rolls, trying to escape but Johnson keeps control of the position.
Johnson just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Johnson really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Bruce. Johnson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Bruce has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bruce is covering up but some of the strikes from Johnson are getting through and doing damage.
