Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Chaney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dylan Robbins! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chaney shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Robbins as he jumps to the side. Chaney fails with a takedown attempt. Robbins counters with a body kick. Robbins dives in and scores a takedown into Chaney's guard. Chaney pushes Robbins off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Excellent takedown into side control there by Robbins. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Robbins trying to control the action but Chaney is working from the bottom. Robbins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chaney. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Chaney gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chaney wants to control but Robbins is keeping busy.
Robbins is trying to control the action in half guard but Chaney is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Chaney gets full guard. Robbins lands a couple of elbows. Robbins trying to control but Chaney is working from the bottom. Chaney avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Robbins is looking to work some ground and pound but Chaney has wrist control. Chaney is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Robbins connects with a couple of short punches. Robbins trying to stand up but can't free himself from Chaney's guard. Robbins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chaney is keeping the position for now.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Chaney doesn't succeed with the takedown and Robbins counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Chaney pushes Robbins off and gets back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Chaney. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chaney tries for a takedown but Robbins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Robbins let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Robbins throws a head kick that Chaney semi-blocks.
Robbins scores with a takedown into Chaney's guard. Chaney has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Robbins is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Robbins drags the fight down to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Robbins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chaney is one step ahead there. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Robbins doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Robbins working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Chaney has passed into half guard!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Robbins can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Robbins is trying to get back to full guard. Chaney is trying to control. Robbins wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Chaney is looking for a kimura here.
Robbins is in trouble now - Chaney has advanced to mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that James Chaney will probably get the nod. That's time! Chaney's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Robbins drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Chaney manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Robbins displaying some good clinch control by pressing Chaney up against the cage. Robbins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Robbins dives in and scores a takedown into Chaney's guard. Chaney is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Robbins presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Chaney jumps guard but Robbins stands there with Chaney around his waist. Chaney gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Chaney has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Robbins avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Robbins jumps guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Robbins lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Robbins's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Robbins trying to control but Chaney is working from the bottom. Chaney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Chaney not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Chaney wriggles free and stands up. Chaney gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Robbins counters by moving into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Chaney. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chaney being controlled against the cage. Robbins tightens his grip and picks Chaney up, before dumping him to the ground. Chaney manages to land in guard. Chaney wriggles free and stands up. This has been an exciting period of action! Chaney shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Robbins but Robbins pushes him off and we're back to square one. Robbins looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Chaney is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Robbins presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Chaney is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Chaney jumps guard but Robbins turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Chaney is fighting off a takedown attempt but Robbins is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Chaney to the mat. Chaney regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Chaney uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Robbins is looking to slow Chaney down with leg kicks. Some wild striking there from Robbins.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Robbins with a poor takedown letting Chaney counter with a right hand. Robbins is breathing heavily. Robbins throws a looping overhand right but Chaney ducks down to avoid it. Chaney doesn't succeed with the takedown and Robbins counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Robbins. Robbins decides to pull guard. Robbins looking to control but Chaney passes into half guard.

James Chaney dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Robbins with a poor takedown and Chaney counters with a lovely straight right hand! Chaney is looking to slow Robbins down with leg kicks. Robbins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Robbins has closed the distance and engaged Chaney in a clinch.

Robbins has picked Chaney up - he's going for a ride! Robbins dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Chaney makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Robbins clinches up with Chaney and pushes him back against the cage. Robbins has clasped his hands together around Chaney's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Chaney throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Chaney tries to close the distance and clinch but Robbins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Chaney fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Robbins drives through with a takedown into guard. Chaney scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Robbins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chaney tries to clinch but Robbins moves out of range. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Robbins. Chaney looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Robbins clinches up against the cage. Robbins prevents a body shot from Chaney. Chaney is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Chaney. That's going to take a lot out of him. Robbins breaks from the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Chaney drops down looking for an ankle pick but Robbins pulls his leg out and moves away.

Robbins ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Robbins no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Robbins is trying to keep Chaney in close.

James Chaney overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Chaney wants to free his trapped foot but Robbins is holding on for dear life with his legs. Chaney stops Robbins from getting back to his feet.

Chaney in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Sloppy strikes there by Chaney. Chaney creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Robbins sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Robbins tries to buck Chaney off but Chaney is having none of it. Chaney is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Robbins has escaped the position, nice work there. Chaney working away.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Chaney. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chaney, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
