Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Jones!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis stuffs the takedown.
Jones wants to land a leg kick but Pettis is out of range.
Pettis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pettis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Pettis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pettis works over Jones's head and body with a nice combination.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Pettis swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pettis was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Pettis wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jones manages to pass to side control.

Jones prevents Pettis from standing back up.
We've been hearing good reports from Pettis's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Pettis tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control.
Pettis wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones passes to side control.

Pettis has given up his back here. Will Jones look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Jones has the hooks in. Pettis is starting to panic. He's trying to push off one of the legs but he's left his neck open to attack. Jones passes his arm under Pettis's neck and tightens up a rear naked choke! This one is surely all over! Yes, Pettis taps!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jack Jones!
A relieved looking Jack Jones thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
